Thank you very much for posting this Donna. Vincent Albert Moore was my mother's uncle. Even though my mum was very small when he died, my brother, cousins and I grew up hearing stories about "Uncle Bud" and we all feel like we knew him. I've been trying to do some research on him but have never seen the newspaper article. I've seen the photos online before but I don't know where they are from but they're nice to see. This is a lovely site and I thank you for creating this site "so that there is always a face to the name of soldiers resting far from home." Best, Heidi
Hello Heidi, Do you live in Calgary? I am glad you came across this site and would love to hear any stories about your Great-Uncle. I can put you into contact with individuals working on projects at the cemeteries. They would love to hear any stories you have to help know more about one of their adopted sons who helped to Liberate their country.
Hi Donna-- I am from Alberta but in Ontario now. I may be traveling to the Netherlands in the near future so will be in touch if I am. I am very interested in hearing more from Chris! Best, Heidi
Hi Chris, Where do you live in the Netherlands. I have been quite a few times. Have you been to the Holten War Cemetery and seen the new Canadian Information Centre they have there? It is very nice. I continue my work to add pictures and stories to each soldier there and at Groesbeek as well. The last few weeks I have added over 50 new pictures to the program at Groesbeek. My Uncle has 48 of his comrades buried in Holten and a boy my mother went to school with is in the Groesbeek Cemetery so these projects are very important to me. May I ask how you came across pictures and belongings of Sgt. Moore? I would love to hear more of your involvement and am always grateful for any help I can get. So nice to hear from you.
Hi Donna; This is Heidi's cousin, Imogen. Heidi has forwarded me some of these photos from your site via facebook. I was raised for 10 years of my childhood by Bud Moore's sister; my grandmother. So I did, in fact, hear quite a few anecdotes from my grandmother as she loved her brother dearly and thought he was a wonderful person. As I was born on Remembrance Day, when Heidi first sent me these photos last year I was able to post one of my Great Uncle Bud on my facebook page simultaneously marking both Remembrance Day and my birthday. Thank you for your diligent and very meaningful work that you have put into your site. with Best Wishes, Imogen Whyte, Bowen Island BC
Hi Donna, right now i live in Drachten, but we are moving to another small town just 15km away from here. I haven't made a visit to Holten. It's on my list for 2017.
I got my hands on the pictures and medals at the end of 2008. The men who bought them originally sold his WW2 collection.
My collection is an overview of the war from all sides (Allied,Sovjet and Axis). Especially the personal stories and items play a major role in my collection.
my apologies for the delayed response. We are in the middle of a relocating.

That's very interesting Chris. We'd never seen any of those and would be interested in learning more. Would you be able to contact me at hjacobs at uwindsor DOT ca?
Hello, We are writing a book about the liberation of the former municipality of Gendringen. This is because our church will be released for 75 years next year. We also mention all fallen soldiers who fell within our church. Sergeant Vincent Albert Moore also belongs to this and many other Canadian soldiers. We do this because this should not be forgotten.
